Lake Saint-Point, also known under the name of Lake Malbuisson, is one of the largest natural lakes in France by area. It is located in the department of Doubs, in the Jura mountains, about fifteen miles from the town of Pontarlier.
In a wide valley of tectonic oriented southwest to northeast, between the mountains of Laveron and that of Fort St. Anthony, St. spans the lake called Lake Point Dampvauthier the Middle Ages, at the time of large clearings of the Cistercian monks of the abbey of Mont-Sainte-Marie. Powered by the Doubs this body of water along 8.5 km and a width of 1, forms the third largest natural lake in France after the Bourget Lake, Lake Annecy with the exception of the French side of Lake Geneva. It is the largest natural lakes in the French Jura. It is separated from Lake Remoray a wetland environment particularly rich. In this landscape of mountain, the presence of the water always runs the site, four villages as Saint-Point, Malbuisson, Labergement St. Mary Montperreux hamlets and settled there. The old tourist site due to the quality of its landscape is the source of the inns and resort hotels many in the region.
