The ancient theater of Arles was built in the late first century BC. BC, just after the founding of the Roman colony.
Started around 40/30 BC. AD, it is completed around the year 12 BC. AD, the theater is part of the Roman grid, the decumanus and is part of the planning Augustan.
The first excavations in 1651 will rise the famous "Venus of Arles" (marble statue, now in the Louvre).
