44350 GUÉRANDE
The Porte Saint-Michel is the main entrance to the walled city of Guerande.
The monumental character of its architecture, dated mid-fifteenth century, reflects the prestige and power of the city in the Middle Ages.
It forms, with its two towers flanking the door wagon and pedestrian, a home-castle.
First home of the captain of the city, the apartments were then assigned to the governor of Guerande after the union of Brittany to France (1532).
These are the only interior of the medieval visited.
The walk on part of the walls is offered with the museum.
