The Natural History Museum is housed in the old courthouse in Le Havre, built in the mid eighteenth century façade and staircase are classified as historic monuments. Burned during the bombing of 1944, its collections have been reconstructed. The property, created by the city in 1838, has rooms mineralogy, zoology, ornithology, paleontology, prehistory and a collection of paintings by the traveler and naturalist Charles Alexandre Lesueur Le Havre (1778-1846) in the first half of the nineteenth century.
