The museum houses Secq Tournelles the largest public collection of old ironwork in the world. It has about 12,000 pieces of all kinds, grilles, door knockers, signs, locks, clocks, scientific instruments and medical products, from the sixth to the early nineteenth century. Works everyday as well as traditional works of the past. This museum is the result of the gift to the city of Rouen in 1921 by a collector, Henri Le Secq Tournelles. The museum is housed in the church of Saint-Laurent, Gothic edifice of the sixteenth century, and the phantasmagoric presentation designed by the donor itself is still in force. Many of the loans from all over Europe testify to the fame of this unique institution.
