The Museum of the Annunciation said that the village of Saint-Tropez was one of the most active of the avant-garde painting in the early twentieth century, thanks to Paul Signac, who discovered in 1892, the small port of fishermen aboard his yacht Olympia. Attracted by the country, Signac bought a house which he made his studio, La Hune, and invite many artists: Cross, Matisse, Derain, Marquet. The collections presented ranging between 1890 and 1950 are surprising, as much for their quality and homogeneity, All the exposed artists based their work from a reflection on the color while remaining faithful to figuration. This set is composed of first-rate paintings, belonging mainly to movements Pointillist, Nabis and fawn.
