The Charles de Gaulle Memorial is a memorial depicting, through the person of Charles de Gaulle, the great historical events of the twentieth century.
The Charles de Gaulle and the General Council of Haute-Marne chaired by Bruno Sido are responsible for its implementation with a total investment of 22 million euros.
It replaces the Memorial of General de Gaulle inaugurated June 18, 1972, which until recently housed a small exhibition and ordered access to the monumental cross of Lorraine.
Officially launched by the President of the French Republic Jacques Chirac November 9, 2006, the Charles de Gaulle Memorial and exhibition De Gaulle-Adenauer: A Franco-German reconciliation was inaugurated October 11, 2008 by Nicolas Sarkozy and Chancellor Angela Merkel , just fifty years after the historic meeting at the Boisserie between General de Gaulle and Chancellor Konrad Adenauer.
