Lake Saint Cassian is a vast reservoir of 430 km ² bordering the massif Tanneron.
This artificial lake, located near the villages of Montauroux and Adrets de l'Estérel, was put in water in 1966.
Originally intended to supply water to all major cities of the Maritime Alps, the lake is a popular site as well to organize a family picnic that for all kinds of water activities such as fishing.
The D38, which bypasses the lake of Saint Cassian from the west and follows the winding course of Briançon and Siagne, provides a good road trip.
You can start on this road by turning right just before the bridge that separates the two water retention.
This route, punctuated by numerous picnic areas near parking lots, takes you into the hills and along steep gorges.
You can then continue your walk west to the junction with the D562.
For 3 km along the direction of Draguignan, you will find the D37 and the western shore of the lake.
