Lake Madine is an artificial body of water of Lorraine, set astride the departments of Meurthe-et-Moselle and Meuse in the course of a sub-tributary of the Moselle, Madine.
Included in the Regional Natural Park of Lorraine, Lake Madine is in the plain of Woëvre, biogeographic entity characterized by clay layers up to a depth of 100 meters. This bog and forest was gradually drained by the creation of fish ponds and channels that have been made between the twelfth and sixteenth centuries by monks seeking to improve the health sector.
Put water in 1965, the lake has a threefold purpose reserve of drinking water for the surrounding community of Metz, Reserve National Hunting and wildlife and recreation area (beach, marina) whose characteristic is to be reserved for sailboats, motorboats heat are therefore prohibited.
Its area is close to 1 100 hectares if there are two small islands. It holds 35 million cubic meters and its watershed covers an area of 32.2 km ².
