The Col de la Colombiere, culminating at 1613 meters, connects the valleys of the Grand-Bornand and Reposoir, located between the terminals massive north-northwest, and the Aravis mountains in the south-southeast. With Col des Aravis, this is a crossing point through the eponymous chain, but it is of secondary importance: the gorge of the Arve valley, connecting Bonneville Sallanches, offers a path passing easier borrowing elsewhere Highway Blanche.

The Col de la Colombiere is therefore closed in winter, except special need. The trails at the start of the neck crisscross chain Bargy, the main viewpoint over the Aravis culminating at 2438 meters by the white tip. Access is possible through the pass the road to Grand-Bornand (Chinaillon Valley) where one can discover a beautiful view of the massive Tournette and Aravis, and the road to Scionzier (Valley Reposoir ) which is discovered after the Reposoir, rock needles.
