The origins of the castle date back to 1180 when Thibaud V, Count of Blois had built the imposing tower that dominates today.
In 1450, Jean de Dunois, bastard of Louis of Orleans and grand son of Charles V, a companion of Joan of Arc began the transformation of the castle in residence. The additions continued in the sixteenth century with the creation of a wing renaissance. Thus under the castle offers a variety of styles, which does not prevent a perfect unity of the whole.
