The Hotel St Cyr is situated in the heart of the beautiful scenery of southern burgundy. The panoramic views from the hotel itself show the woods, lakes and the mountains at Suin and Dun. You will be only a 20 minute drive from the vineyards of the Maconnais and Beaujolais wines. The area is renowned for its famous charollais beef, excellent walks for ramblers and numerous lakes for fishing and swimming. The region is steeped in history and is proud of its heritage. It has some of the finest examples of Romanesque churches in Europe and the local museums include the ancient cars in the chateau at La Clayette, the National Wood Museum at Dompierre les Ormes, Museum of Nature at Matour and the prehistoric findings at the Rock of Solutre. You can explore the underground caves at Aze and Blanot and the historic town of Cluny with the remains of the abbey and the national horse stables is a must to visit. From Givry to Cluny and now extending further south you will find the ?Voie Vert?. This converted railway line provides an excellent route for walking, cycling or even roller-skating, to enjoy the heart of the countryside away from the automobile. The voie vert also passes the famous religious centre at Taize. The local towns of La Clayette, Charolles and Paray le Monial are centres of culture and interest. Each small town has a weekly market where you can buy fresh local produce and there are numerous antique shops, known as brocantes.
