La Grange Mirabelle is a pretty stone house with a heated swimming pool, recently refurbished and located in La Chapelle-Aubareil, a picturesque village just a few kilometers from the town of Sarlat.

The house is close to most of the tourist attractions offered by this region, whether natural or man-made.
The region is renowned worldwide for its prehistoric sites stretching over the entire Vézère valley, classified on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
The famous Lascaux and Font de Gaume caves, both known for their prehistoric paintings, are each less than 30 minutes by car from the house.
Several cave towns and fortresses, as well as dozens of caves and caverns, are also found in this region, allowing visitors to take a step back in history and learn about the fascinating lives of our ancestors.

The Dordogne valley, although different from that of the Vézère, is equally pretty, with a history centered around the Middle Ages.
The fortified towns of Beynac, Domme and Castelnaud are highly recommended for educational tours that will appeal to the whole family.
The medieval fortified castles surrounded by their circular villages can also be seen from the river during a Gabarres ride from La Roque-Gageac or Beynac.

Many castles and gardens, all within 30 km of La Grange Mirabelle, organize special events during the summer season, including summer picnics, concerts and musical evenings, and all this in the heart of a setting. grandiose and incomparable.

For those with a taste for adventure, the town of Rocamadour is located a little further, about an hour from the cottage. It is a perfectly preserved medieval town, with winding streets, dominated by a staircase comprising 216 steps that pilgrims climbed, and sometimes still climb, on their knees in order to access the healing powers of the religious city.
Near the city there is a reserve for monkeys, containing 150 macaques living in freedom and constituting a visit that can appeal to young and old alike.
To end your day in Rocamadour, a visit to the Padirac chasm is highly recommended, although often in high demand.

On a darker note, north of Limoges lies the martyr village of Oradour-Sur-Glane, preserved in ruins following the massacre of its population by the SS Das Reich division during World War II. Witnessing the suffering inflicted on the inhabitants who lost their lives and thus paying tribute to all the victims, this visit is a moving experience, but also very educational.

This area is fantastic for energetic people who enjoy biking, hiking or canoeing.
Bikes can be rented in the town of Montignac, about 8 km away, and can be delivered to the gîte (on request), but you are also free to bring your own equipment.
Canoe rental services are also dotted along the banks of the Dordogne and Vézère rivers.
