Maison - Gites famille Jonker

HI and Welcome!
Since the summer of 2016 we, Bert and Angèle from the Netherlands, have been living in the French countryside with two of our four children. In the hamlet of Lac Châlus, about 450 kilometers south of Paris.
After almost 30 years mainly focusing on study, work and career we find silence, space and rhythm here. It's really a step back in time... This is how we live in our new environment. The Netherlands 30 years ago, when happiness was still very normal.
And in the meantime 'almost' already established in the French culture and language, we enjoy the contact with the pilgrims, cook our vegetable garden, look after the animals, ride horses, search for porcini mushrooms, go for walks and other 'things ordinary and special'. We have not completely become French but we enjoy hot meals, picking fruit for compote and jam and the first experiments to have our own vineyard.

The big house (6/7 people) has three floors
It was completely renovated in 2017

After a few years of building the house and the barn, we can finally welcome people to experience this quiet life. For example, walking holidays are very possible.
On this site you will find information on longer or short stays in our Pilgrims Accommodation, the holiday homes (5 & 6 people) and the gîte (2 people).
The environment is rich in possibilities for nature, culture and sport activities such as long walks in untouched nature without seeing people, mountain biking, cycling, taking photos, swimming in lakes, tree climbing, playing golf , visit flea markets and museums and pick up the daily menus inexpensively and with good quality. Also the metropolises and tourist places are quite close. We are happy to tell you more….

Our house on the Saint Jacques de Compostelle path in Le Lac, is located in the green Limousin region (Haute-vienne) 5 km from the north of Dordogne and 35 and 50 km from Limoges and Périgueux. Chalûs is the closest village (2km) with all the necessities.
