Settons Lake is a reservoir in the middle of the Morvan and was created in 1861 to allow the transport of wood by river to Paris. Now it attracts many tourists in the summer when the weather is good and there are plenty of opportunities for all kinds of water sports. In winter, the lake is an oasis of tranquility.
La Coupe Lyonnet is a small hamlet and is about 3 km away. distance from Lac des Settons. The hamlet consists of about 10 houses.
The farm is about 150 years old.
It consists of a living room, a barn, a stable. All in reasonably original condition, but where the attic was are now the bedrooms.
The farm is old, country and surrounded by nature.
It is for people who are not afraid of a spider or a nocturnal rustle behind the ceiling. Nature often invites itself, especially in verandas and sheds.
As a climbing/creeping plant, but also as a small rodent. Upstairs, behind the ceiling, one sometimes hears the running of an animal which accumulates its winter stock there; squirrels I guess.
The tranquility of the Morvan can be torn apart by the neighbours' dogs. They sometimes sing a collective song. Joyful, but often full of sadness. And that can tear the morvandelle peace.
On the ground floor are the living room with veranda and the kitchen-living room. Cooking is done with gas or electric. Half of the upper floor consists of an open attic, the rest of 2 bedrooms and a small bathroom. The bathroom has a shower, sink and toilet. An electric boiler provides hot water.
Depending on the desired privacy, 6 people can easily sleep there. Duvets, pillows and blankets are provided. Bring your own pillowcases and sheets. For heating you depend on 2 wood burning stoves and the tiled floor in the kitchen is underfloor heated. Wood is present, but some chopping and sawing cannot be avoided.
The kitchen has a refrigerator and a 4-burner stove. Cooking is done on a bottle of butane gas and possibly electrically. The oven is electric. And there is a microwave. An electric boiler provides hot water in the kitchen and the bathroom.
Small supermarkets can be found in Moux, Montsauche and Planchez; all about 8-10 km. And in these places you can also pick up fresh bread from 7:00 a.m.
There are large supermarkets in Saulieu, Autun or Château Chinon (all within ± 25 km). For fresh bread you can go to Moux, Montsauche or Planchez from 7am.
There is also a washing machine.
In the shed are 5 mountain bikes and there is an inflatable boat which can be used if leaks are fixed.
A sailboat is available; but you have to put it in the water yourself and for that you need a tow bar. Use after consultation
There is also a ping-pong table in the shed.
In the house are several maps of the area and there is a lot of information for the tourist.
There are no big towns in the Morvan, but just outside the park are towns that are definitely worth visiting: Autun, Avallon, Vézelay.
