Environment:
The house is located next to one of the entrances to the San Domingos de Bonaval Park, the former estate and cemetery of the Dominican convent, restored as an urban park according to a project by the Portuguese architect Álvaro Siza. The access via the new wooden footbridge designed in the project is located just 50m from the house.
The house is located just 300m from the Rúa de San Pedro, the entrance to the city on the “Camino de Santiago”. The house is located in the historic area of the city, but it is located in a street without traffic and away from the usual bustle of the streets of the old town at night. Even on the busy 25th of July (the feast day of St. James the Apostle and bank holidays in Galicia), you can decide whether you want to relax at home watching the fireworks from the terrace or participate directly in the festivities in the streets.
Most of the city bus lines pass within 200m of the accommodation.
Mercado de Abastos, pharmacies, bookshops, bank offices, supermarkets and grocery shops are all within a 400m radius.
Activities and attractions:
The Plaza del Obradoiro, with the Cathedral of Santiago, the Hostal de los Reyes Católicos, the Town Hall, Plaza de Platerías and Plaza de la Quintana are just 500m away. The fabulous and throbbing Mercado de Abastos about 400m away (a must on Saturdays).
San Domingos de Bonaval Park connects two of the city's main museums: the Galician Centre of Contemporary Art 'CGAC' and the Museo do Pobo Galego - 'Museum of the Galician People'.
Situated on a hillside facing west, the park offers stunning views of the city's rooftops, to which the artist Chillida dedicated a sculpture that intentionally frames a vision of the city.
For wine: Rúa Franco y Raíña and the Abastos market, the San Paio de Antealtares area and Porta do Camiño are all within 500m of the accommodation.
The City of Culture can be reached by bus numbers 7 and C11, both stopping 200m from the accommodation.
