In the region of Rouen, an area is dedicated to the conservation of birds and some mammals are rare or threatened: the zoo Clères. A beautiful park surrounds a mansion of the fourteenth century and a Renaissance castle. This area belongs to the Museum since 1967: the ornithologist Jean Delacour left him the property, housed in 1920 to house his collection of rare birds and mammals, reports of numerous study missions in tropical countries. This is the origin of the concolor gibbons, wallabies Bennet, axis deer and a very large herd of antelope cervicapres, from India and almost extinct in their country.
