At the heart of Riom tourist mecca of the department of Puy de Dome and the Auvergne Region, Country of Art and History, renowned for its exceptional architecture of lava, the Regional Museum of Auvergne, labeled Museum de France in 2002, housed in a former mansion of the eighteenth century, renovated in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. Through a collection of over 4000 objects, the museum presents the rural Auvergne nineteenth century but is also intended to mirror the territory and people of today.
