Cardinal Joseph Fesch, maternal uncle of Napoleon, a great art lover and collector, bequeathed to his hometown more than a thousand paintings and furniture and items of jewelry, silks. The Fesch museum is, therefore, the largest museum in France after the Louvre for Italian paintings. Three major funds stand out in particular the panorama of Italian painting in the Trecento Settecento: Primitives, Roman Baroque painting, the Neapolitan Baroque painting.
