The main interest of the museum lies in the presentation, in cellars, objects from the archaeological research carried out in the yard of the priory founded in charity by the monks of Cluny in 1059. The remains of the Saint-Laurent, annex to the great priory of Notre Dame, the cemetery of the monks and service buildings, produced a large furniture (ceramic cooking, architectural decorations: paving tiles, sculpture ...) , that tracks the daily lives of a large monastic settlement in the Middle Ages. Upstairs are presented collections of decorative objects connected by a Charitois in 30 years: periods of Art Nouveau and Art Deco vases contain Lalique, Gallé, Daum ... a set of Sevres porcelain, works Louchet brothers, Theodore Deck, Faure. The museum, which also collected a large part of the workshop Alfredo Pina, (Milan 1887 - Mesves / Loire 1966), practitioner Rodin exhibits next to bronze and marble, the wax of a "tomb of Dante.
