In the heart of the oldest synagogue in Europe, said that the museum has with Cavaillon Avignon, l'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue and Carpentras, a Jewish neighborhood called the Quarry. It was around the synagogue that the life of the Quarry will be conducted. Place of assembly and prayer, the synagogue we visited today was rebuilt in the eighteenth century. It reflects the life and status of the Jews so special in Provence. The latter had two cultures, one Jewish, the other Provence. They will be called the "Pope's Jews" because they found refuge in the papal possessions in the South of France.
