Built in 1738 for the Marquis Antoine de Monconseil Guinot, the hotel was from 1790 to 1810 the seat of the prefecture of the Lower Charente and became a museum in 1920. this remarkable specimen of civil architecture of the eighteenth century contain rich collections of regional art, met at the turn of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries Mestreau Abel (1855-1939): Signs, ceramics, prints, paintings, jewelry, costumes and headdresses, weapons, reconstitution of a peasant. Exposed according to the biases of the early century museum, they relive the past life of the province.
