This museum was born of an exhibition bringing together objects and documents related to the history and manufacture of Camembert. This cheese with the invention, it is said, is due to Marie Harel an ingenious farmer, is now internationally known, been produced for centuries around Vimoutiers.

Through a stunning collection of labels of boxes of Camembert, one reconstructs the history, places of manufacture and the consumption pattern of this prestigious cheese. An annual meeting brings together tyrosémiophiles (the label collectors) over France and even Europe, for fruitful discussions but also enrich the museum's collections.
