16300 BARBÉZIEUX SAINT-HILAIRE
A castle has existed from the eleventh century, of which nothing remains.
The present castle was built by order of Marguerite de La Rochefoucauld to provide work during a famine in 1453.
Even today, the castle looks like an imposing fortress.
The two high round towers are covered with a single roof. This roof also covers the central passage forming a flag. Note the openings for cannonnières.
A large rectangular building himself has been transformed.
