We know little of the old Occitan castrum belonging to the lords of Congost, which was taken th, 1211 by Simon de Montfort, then occupied by Loup de Foix in 1220. The aristocratic residence that we visit today was built in the first half of the fourteenth by the lords of the original cross-Thomas Heather. The décros representing musicians have long been confused with Puivert Puivert in Quercorb Agramunt in Catalonia, as a gathering place of troubadours.
