After hosting the 1913 to 1976 various units of the Army, including the 121st and 92nd Infantry Regiments, the barracks became the first Richemont August 1976 a school of the National Gendarmerie.
Richemont Barracks is named after General Camus, Baron de Richemont, born in Montmarault (Allier) in 1770 and died in 1853.
In this hall built between 1910 and 1913 on a hold of ten acres, located southwest of the city, the school consists of 14 identical buildings surrounded by outbuildings of more recent construction. Architectural curiosity rare in military buildings, balconies adorn each front.
Directly under the command of the gendarmerie schools, this school of training non-commissioned officers and constables volunteer assistant is the largest of the gendarmerie. Its main mission is to prepare for their future working lives of young men and girls who decided to serve in the police is, each year nearly 1,200 students housed in boarding. Thanks to modern teaching facilities, it also provides training courses for different categories of specialized staff of the gendarmerie.
