Abbaye Notre-Dame de Longpont

Founded in 1131 by St. Bernard, the famous Abbot of Clairvaux, and built in 1143 by Count Raoul de Vermandois in a wide valley on the edge of the forest of Retz, Longpont Abbey was consecrated in 1227 in the presence of St. Louis, King of France at the age of 12, and his mother, Blanche of Castile.
