Demeures et Châteaux La Ferme de la Raçonnière in Normandy opens its doors to you in Crépon, 30 minutes from Caen and 20 minutes from Bayeux. This 15th-century estate, nestling not far from the historic D-Day landing beaches, will charm history buffs and lovers of the great outdoors. In an authentic setting, where every stone tells a story, families and couples can escape for a timeless getaway. A harmonious blend of nature and history. Just 5km away, the iodine-laden sea air whispers tales of Gold Beach. This name, given by the Allies, refers to this vast stretch of Normandy, the main witness to a decisive turning point. Thousands of brave soldiers trod its sands in the name of freedom on 6 June 1944.
A dedicated path then leads to the British memorial at Ver-sur-Mer, perched on the heights of Mont Fleury. This reverent shrine commemorates the heroism of the Commonwealth soldiers who fell for France. 10 km away, the Arromanches Landing Museum reveals the technical and human prowess of the artificial harbour. Continue your journey of remembrance at Bayeux British War Cemetery, the final resting place of 4,000 servicemen. Its American counterpart at Colleville-sur-Mer is also the silent guardian of the souls of Omaha Beach.
What's more, the house is centrally located for exploring Honfleur, Deauville, Caen and Mont-Saint-Michel.
At the heart of the Norman landscape, the historic roots of the estate lie in the very fabric of the 16th century. Initially named Manoir de Biéville, in honour of the founding family, this architectural gem endured the tumult of the Hundred Years' War. The war pitted the Crown of England against the Kingdom of France.
Subsequently, under the aegis of the Chastel family in the 17th century, almost all the buildings were demolished, with the exception of the tower. It was later, in 1710, that the estate finally adopted its current name, thanks to the daughter of the Lord of Biéville. Over the years, the estate changed hands, even becoming home to the "Servants of Jesus known as the Hospitaller Sisters of Saint Louis" from Caen.
In 1944, the farm once again found itself in the midst of the turmoil of war. It served as an air base for the German army and was liberated in June of that year. However, it was in 1967 that its destiny took an unprecedented turn. Following a fortuitous turn of events involving Belgian tourists, it was transformed into a guest house. Today, this jewel of heritage is a charming hotel nestling in the heart of historic Normandy. Its porch, facades and roof are listed in the supplementary inventory of historic buildings.

Thanks to a major refurbishment, the 40 rooms and suites are distinguished by their character, atmosphere and distinctive features. The interior design harmoniously blends the historic architecture of the estate with pieces of French manufacture.
It's impossible not to be charmed by the discreet elegance of this place. The warm ambience highlights the raw beauty of the old stones and beams. Your gaze is captivated by the delicacy of the contemporary armchairs, the silky fabrics and the gilded ornamentation of the furniture. Each room recounts a fragment of history, from the old bakery, to the lord's bedroom, to the stables of yesteryear.
Outside, the estate is adorned with flower gardens, meticulously tended by a gardener of undisputed talent. Contemplation and serenity to disconnect from everyday life. What's more, the enchanting scent of roses, combined with the sea breeze, will revive your senses and soothe you. In the midst of this bucolic setting, a charming mini-farm houses three rabbits and three hens, to the delight of children. Not far away, a play area inspired by the medieval era is also waiting for them to play knights and princesses.
As for the chef, he pays fine tribute to the richness of Normandy. These tasty menus showcase local produce. What's more, a gourmet brunch is offered every month on Sundays. A treat for the taste buds.
