This 18C semi detached 3 bedroom cottage has been beautifully restored to exceptionally high standards.
Bell’aa is set in a rural village location with off road parking for 3 cars, with a large garden and makes the perfect place to relax for a family or a group of friends. Located just 1 hour from Calais and 2 1/2 from Paris Charles de Gaulle for international travellers. Beautifully restored and oozing charm with exposed beams, a lovely cosy fireplace with electric stove for chillier evenings, it’s the perfect place to explore this lovely region. There is a 28sqm terrace with views across the garden towards the River Aa where you can fish or enjoy a BBQ on the terrace. We provide a large sun sail rather than an parasol for those summer days and two teak sunloungers and cushions. Star gazing is fabulous here as there is no ambient light.... don't forget to bring an extra torch as there are no street lights. Inside the cottage there is a fully fitted oak kitchen, with electric oven, gas hob and loads of workspace and cupboards, ideal for the chef. An antique farmhouse table and six Ercol chairs make up the dining area of the kitchen looking out onto the terrace and the living room enjoys a full height vaulted ceiling through to the roof space creating a wonderful view. The downstairs double bedroom has an antique bed and painted beams. A downstairs shower room with wc and basin enjoys views over the garden. Upstairs there are two bedrooms (one double and one twin - which can be made into a king size if required). There is a stunning mezzanine walkway between the two bedrooms which overlooks the living room area and creates a feeling of enormous space and light. Outside you can relax on the 28sqm terrace (fully railed) and enjoy the flowered garden, there are seven steps from the parking area to the terrace but there’s a handrail.
Children will enjoy exploring the garden, we have insect houses and a wildflower area to keep our resident hedgehogs happy. ONE well behaved dog is accepted but not allowed to be left alone in the cottage at any time and we would prefer they don’t get on the beds. We can provide throws for the sofas as being dog lovers ourselves we know they like a sofa cuddle. The area is famous for its WW1 and WW2 history and there are many museums to visit in the area. Cycling and golf are very popular and the 18 hole course at Saint Omer is just a short drive away. For the gourmets, there are many excellent good value for money restaurants within a short drive - we can book tables if required. The wonderful sandy beaches of the North are 40 minutes way and stretch from Dunkerque in the north to Saint Valery in the south, some have cliffs, some have promenades but there's a beach for everyone.
In the summer months, the area comes alive with music festivals, Sunday brocantes and activities. In the winter, there are the Christmas markets, the Herring festivals and museums and art galleries to explore. Good towns to explore are Montreuil sur Mer, Boulogne sur Mer and Saint Omer and there are numerous daily fruit and veg markets within easy reach Additional price info and offers: Our normal changeover is Monday but we are flexible, please contact if you would like another arrival date PLEASE NOTE THERE ARE NO FACILITIES TO CHARGE AN ELECTRIC /HYBRID CAR ON SITE, Car charging points are available in nearby towns 8kwh of electric per day is included, the rest is on a meter reading at the end of your stay.
