The Space Hotel is part of a non-profit international school for the promotion of gifted young scientists. Each guest is welcome to support the school with a donation (details are provided on request). The founder of the initiative is Professor Jesco von Puttkamer (1933-2012), the Leipzig-born NASA Director of the International Space Station.
Check-in is available from 16:00 to 19:00. Early check-in before 16:00 is not possible. Late check-in after 19:00 is only possible if you give your mobile telephone number when booking. You will then receive a text message (sms) giving your key code, and this is subject to a surcharge of EUR 5.
Please note that there is a EUR 400 fine for smoking in the rooms.
Guests are asked to be quiet after 22:00 each night. Otherwise there is a EUR 150 fine.
Reception is open daily from 16:00 until 19:00 (Sundays from 16:00 until 18:00). If you arrive after 19.00 (on Sundays after 18.00) you have to inform the hotel in advance. There is a surcharge of EUR 5.
Please note that on arrival you will be asked to show the credit card used for the deposit. You are not allowed to use your credit card to book for others. The credit card will be used as a safeguard (deposit) during your stay. Bookings made with an invalid credit or debit card will not be accepted.
Please note that a key deposit is required upon arrival only if there are problems with the validity of the given credit card information and if the credit card's refusal period is no longer valid upon arrival.
Please note that rooms are cleaned on request only.
The hotel car park is accessed via the gate at Breite Straße 5. Free parking spaces are over a 5-minute walk away.
Please note that electric kettles and other electrical devices are only allowed on request.
Free luggage storage is available at the nearby Kaufland-Center.
