Nestled in the Côtes-d'Armor region of Brittany, ‘Quai du Val’ is situated in a unique position on the banks of the River Rance, in the picturesque village of Lehon., offering unspoiled views of the river and the surroundings all day long.
Léhon is proud to have the Petite Cité de Caractère award for its preserved old town, cobbled streets, ornate facades, general all-round beauty and protected character. On every street, you can observe the pretty stone buildings, coloured doors and floral displays, making it a village you will never forget!
On entering the village, you can see the top of a rocky promontory, the ruins of Léhon feudal castle which date back to the thirteenth century, overlook the Abbey and the houses of the old town. The view from the top is breathtaking!
The open plan living area comprises of a kitchen/breakfast area and lounge. The lounge faces south at the front of the property with the benefit of views of the river and the countryside. The windows are floor to ceiling and open onto the decked terrace which benefits from the sun all day. UK and French TV and WIFI provided!
The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you will need for a comfortable stay. There is also a utility room which is fully equipped with a washing machine, ironing board/iron, drying airers for the garden and cleaning equipment for the house and there is a dedicated area for storing coats and shoes.
Also on the ground floor is a shower room with washbasin and WC.
For lunchtime and evening dining, there is a conservatory which seats 7 people and enjoys lovely views of the fields and forest. The sun lights up this room from late afternoon and throughout the evening, so it is a great place to spend time with your family and friends and watch the sun go down.
There are 3 generously sized bedrooms. All rooms are equipped with hanging and storage space, mirrors, bedside lamps and blackout curtains to ensure a good night’s sleep. All the bedrooms have high ceilings with beautiful beams.
The master bedroom (La Chambre Jaune) benefits from a super king bed, which can also be configured as two singles if preferred. This is a gorgeous room which also enjoys the lovely views of the river through the porthole window!
The second bedroom (La Chambre Rose) is at the rear of the property has one double bed and one single bed, so can sleep 3 people.
The third bedroom (La Chambre Bleue) overlooks the private garden and has one double bed.
The bathroom, with velux window, has a bath and good shower, sink, WC and storage area for all your toiletries.
Our house is a south facing property. There are two outdoor areas, the first leading off the kitchen which is a private mature garden with patio which enjoys the morning/early afternoon sunshine. This is a perfect place to enjoy your breakfast 'al fresco' on a sunny day. This area is furnished with seating for 7 people.
The second terrace is a decked area at the front, within a stone wall with floral borders. It benefits from the sun all from late morning until early evening and can be accessed from the other patio area and the lounge.
Dogs are normally accepted, maximum 1 dog. Please enquire when booking. Your dog should not be allowed on furniture or upstairs and must never be left alone in the house.
There is a boulangerie just 6 minutes’ walk from the house. Why not start the day in the traditional way? Take in the early morning air and enjoy a quick walk there to buy your fresh baguettes and croissants, or anything else that takes your fancy!
Lehon has one restaurant, La Marmite, which serves fantastic traditional french cuisine, all cooked freshly on site every day. It is open from Tuesday - Saturday (reservations recommended).
The village also benefits from an outdoor swimming pool. A unique experience, the heated outdoor pool is situated next to the beautiful Abbey and is open all year round. Imagine yourself in the autumn or winter in the pool with the water vapours rising, the lights illuminating the village and the view of the Saint-Magloire Abbey... It certainly is a wellness break in an exceptional setting!
How about taking a stroll or cycle along the towpath next to the River Rance? There is nothing better than taking in the wonderful sights along the towpath which takes you directly into the beautiful port of Dinan. Walk, jog, cycle, the choice is yours!
It takes approximately 25 minutes on foot. Once you have taken in all the charm that Lehon has to offer, you will pass over the old bridge which was constructed sometime between the fifteenth and sixteenth century, on the site of a ford that existed on the Rance and allowed the ancient Rennes-Corseul way to cross the river.
Following the towpath towards Dinan, you will see a large garden which is part of the grounds of St. Magloire Abbey in Léhon. You will also catch sight of Le Bourg and the outdoor pool, before passing the lock which is still in continual use, particularly with pleasure boats that run from Dinan
